Your Guide To Workout Skincare.

We know, we know, it might sound strange – but workout skincare is totally a thing! And while you’re working on getting that body fit and even more fabulous, it’s important to make sure that that wondrous skin of yours is also cared for. So, where do you even start – should you be doing your routine before your Zoom yoga class, after your morning run, or both? Never fear - we’ve broken down the golden rules of workout skincare right here for you.

BEFORE YOU HIT THE GYM

It might seem counterintuitive to wash your face before you get it all sweaty, but it’s super important that you begin your workout routine with clean skin – at the very least!

AM:
If you work out first thing in the morning (look at you go, girl!) then make sure you do a quick cleanse to start with a quick cleanse – remember, your skin is the largest organ in your body, so you need to make sure that it’s warmed up and ready when you are, and that means giving those pores the cleanout that they need in order to breathe and sweat effectively during your workout sesh. Our Balancing Cleansing Balm is perfect for this!

PM:
If you’re more of an end-the-day-on-an-adrenaline-high-and-work-out-the-
frustrations-of-the-day type, then it’s super important that you fully remove all your make up before hitting the weights/treadmill/yoga mat. When you exercise, your body temperature increases, and (more often than not) you’ll sweat – a lot – which makes your pores dilate. (Trust us, it’s science.) These dilated pores then make it even easier for makeup and bacteria to make their way in and block your pores.

No matter your preference (and either way, we’re mega impressed), you’ll definitely want to add a lovely layer of something lightweight to gently protect and moisturise your skin after your cleanse while you sweat it out, rather than anything too thick and heavy which will just run into your eyes (not a cute look) and clog your pores (definitely not a cute look).

- If you’re exercising indoors, just apply a spritz of Refreshing Tonic Mist and add a drop of either our Purifying or Nourishing Treatment Oil, and you’ll be good to go!
- If you’ll be heading outdoors for your workout, repeat the above process, but be
sure to always add a layer of SPF to protect your beloved skin from the harsh sun.

Bonus tip: Don’t forget a little lip balm to keep your lips moist and smoochable, and to prevent cracking. (Psst – our lip balms are ultra-hydrating, too!)

AFTER YOUR WORKOUT SESH

All that sweating will give you a temporary gorgeous glow - nice! - but it will also inevitably result in some dehydration – not so nice. Regardless of what time of day it is, it’s super important that you give your face a thorough cleanse as you definitely don’t want any of the sweat and grime that you’ve worked so hard to get out working its way back into your pores. Follow this with another spritz of our Refreshing Tonic Mist and a layer of our Balancing Hydra Serum to replenish your skin’s water components, and then seal in all that loveliness with a few
drops of either our Nourishing or Purifying Treatment Oils to prevent further water loss.

Top Tip: We all know that drinking water throughout the day (and especially after working out) is super important for our bodies, and your skin is no exception.

Keep an eye on your face for signs of dehydration like caking makeup or fine lines, and make sure you’re getting your full 8 glasses of water a day to keep that visage glowing and happy.
